About Kaitlin McQuaide.
I began my career working for renowned designer Victoria Hagan and the celebrated architecture firm Workshop/APD before launching McQuaide Co. I work closely with my clients through all stages of a project, from conception to the technical aspects of construction and project management.
McQuaide Co. is a full-service interior design and consulting studio based in New York City and established in 2018. We specialize in interior architecture & design, construction, custom furniture, and millwork for high-end residential and hospitality projects, both domestic and abroad. For every distinct client and home, we enjoy creating unique spaces that are intentionally designed to inspire life's adventures.
How I make the interior design process effortless.
Being a small interior design firm, I am involved in every part of the design process and nothing gets lost in the mix. You will always be working directly with me, and never passed around between employees. I am your partner throughout the entire process!
In addition, we take a 'no drama' approach to our work and our relationships, which guarantees an effortlessly completed design project.
My relationships with my clients are my top priority and I act as your advocate throughout the entire project. I carry out weekly check-ins with clear and concise information along with progress reports to make sure all expectations are managed and exceeded. I will get to know your family, your pets and the way you live - I take this relationship very seriously and consider it the best part of my job!
What happens if the project is delayed or we hit a road bump?
I always go above and beyond to move mountains, but if a piece of furniture is stuck on a cargo ship in the middle of the ocean - I can't make it move any faster!
If I cannot improve a timeline, I will find an alternative option with as much notice as possible. I also work with numerous receiving warehouses around the country to make the delivery and install process completely stress-free for my clients.
How the interior design process works.
The design process is a conversation between myself and my clients. We begin with a precedent image presentation to lock in a 'look and feel' and then move on to furniture and textiles. I usually give 2 to 3 options for every space to make sure my clients feel seen and heard, while not overwhelming with too many options.
How I work with architects & builders.
Architects and builders are my partners in any project and our relationship is so important. If they are happy, then everyone is happy. I have worked with every type of personality and pride myself on working with difficult people. Growing up as the daughter of a general contractor has also given me a special expertise in working with and understanding contractors and builders. I am your eyes and ears on site!

Interior Design Fees & Timeline
I bill for my design services hourly, and I will give an estimate on how many hours a project will take before we begin. I make it a priority to never go above this estimate and I have found my clients prefer this method of billing as it keeps everyone's expectations managed.
In order to give an accurate hourly estimate, I will need a general scope of work as well as a detailed list of expectations and ideal completion date. From there, we will decide what is realistic and make sure you feel comfortable with the timeline and estimate.
My hourly rate is $130/hour. For an entire home, the typical time involved is 25 - 30 hours per month during the design and selection phase, and 15 - 20 hours per month during the ordering and implementation phase.
